Determination And Why Christian Professionals Need IT
By Simulekwa Sifaya
1. What is determination?
According to the Oxford Advanced American Dictionary, determination is defined as a quality that makes you continue trying to do something even when this is difficult.
Determination is a positive emotional feeling that involves persevering towards a difficult goal despite obstacles.
2. Why do we need determination?
1 Corinthians 9: 24-27 (English Standard Version):
“24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So, run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things…….
26 So, I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.
27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others, I myself should be disqualified.”
During these challenging times, compounded by the COVID 19 pandemic, we need determination more than ever before for us to pull through.
We need determination NOT ONLY in our professional fields, or areas of human endeavor, BUT ALSO in our area of service to the LORD.
Mark 8: 36. "For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul.” In other words, as get determined to pursue our personal goals, let’s get determined to pursue our spiritual calling as well. We need to strike a balance between our human and spiritual pursuits.
Determination will help achieve your 2021 goals despite the obstacles you may encounter.
Jesus Christ is our best model of determination.
Hebrews 12: 1-2. “1 Therefore since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight , and sin which clings so closely and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross , despising the shame and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Prayer Point:
“Father in the Name of Jesus Christ, help me have a renewed determination in this season of the God Factor, in Jesus Christ’s Mighty Name, Amen.”
